The Southern Sea is where the world of Airovale comes alive. Here, towering volcanic islands rise from the mist as zeppelins drift between them, carrying merchants, explorers, and dreamers through skies stained with smoke and steam.
At the heart of it all lies the capital village of Airovale, where fortunes are traded as easily as stories. Northward, daring aeronauts navigate impossible canyons in search of copper-filled caves hidden among the Crescent Islands. But the magnetic sea twists every compass, wrecks the unwary, and ancient curses still guard treasures meant to remain buried.
Far to the east is an island that appears on no map. Canyon Myst is home to the Mystics — a secluded people descended from castaways and fae guardians — where life is governed by the unbreakable Law of Exchange: every gift demands its price.
Beneath the island sleeps something older still. An entire civilization lies entombed beneath layers of volcanic ash, its streets and machines preserved by catastrophe. Legends claim the lost city can still be reached, but only by combining human courage with fairy magic to cross a boundary that has remained sealed for centuries.

Airovale — Core Village (Ch. 1–2 & 4)
Steampunk island village • Busy merchant town • Sense of home
The village of Airovale hums with markets, family kitchens, and airships bound for the
Crescent Islands. It's the place where dreams of wealth meet the truth that
time is the only treasure — a home that anchors every departure and return.
Start in Episode 1; come home in Episode 4.
Moon-shaped archipelago • Naturalist settlers • Magnetic seas
The Crescent Islands arc over sapphire seas — cliffs honeycombed by dormant volcanoes and canyons veined with gold and copper. Settlers farm in harmony with the land, while whispers of a hidden temple and Mahala's curse entice the bold to seek their fortune. Magnetic storms stalk every approach.
Cliff-hewn village • Law of Exchange • Watchful fae covenants
Beyond the endless blue of the Southern Sea lies Canyon Myst — an uncharted island of myth and legend. Hidden terraces and fog-lit ravines shelter a settlement guarded by the fae, where the Law of Exchange rules every bargain and time itself is the island's true currency.
A peaceful ancient utopia of the Southern Sea — renowned for advanced engineering,
luminous halls, and swift amphibious vessels — buried in lava and sea when the great volcano erupted. A time portal
became an escape for a group of desperate survivors, sending them a millennium into the future, guided by the principle of time as the only treasure.
The concept of a volcanic archipelago was inspired during a cruise to the Canary Islands. The author marveled at how different each island felt — hundreds of volcanoes, lush vegetation along shorelines in some places, deserts, lava parks, and black-sand beaches in others, all within a single destination. That landscape became the foundation for the Southern Sea where the saga unfolds, with each island carrying its own climate, character, and secrets. Explore the characters who inhabit these islands on the Characters & Fae page.
What is Canyon Myst?
Canyon Myst is a fae-guarded cliff village where the
Law of Exchange governs every bargain:
nothing is given without a cost in return. Time itself is the island's true currency, with time displacement
stretching seconds and rearranging memory. The island keeps score; shortcuts borrow from the future and every gift expects an answer. Canyon Myst is central to Chapters 5 through 10 of the Airovale story.

Airovale is appropriate for teens ages 16+. The content touches on mature themes including dueling, the penalty of death, greed, immortality, and coming-of-age young adult romance.
How much romance content is in Airovale?
