The village of Airovale rests on a lush island plateau of waterfalls and drifting clouds — a steampunk island village where invention and nature keep time together. But Airovale is more than a capital city: it is where villagers from the outer islands dream of settling, building a trade, and raising a family. Markets brim with cookery, spices, and fresh harvests; lanterns flicker along cobblestone lanes as tower-docks welcome returning airships.

As the region's principal seaport, Airovale is the hub for the vast farmland surrounding the village, its crops feeding the archipelago from tower-dock to table. Traveling merchants restock their vessels here, trading spice, linen, and exotic fruit for passage onward, while the bay's excellent fishing keeps the port's kitchens stocked with fresh seafood year-round.

Nearly every airship in the Southern Sea is built at Airovale's ship dock. Zeppelins, hot-air balloons, and steam-engine craft are taught and produced at the local foundry, and airships remain the archipelago's primary transport — especially where the sea itself turns contrary. To the north, a magnetic region has decimated fleets in storm season, fouling instruments and drawing hulls onto coral reefs that shred wood to firewood.

Airovale is also the seat of royalty for the Southern Sea. Its people are represented by a republic, yet the royal family holds ultimate authority over trade and community disputes, and every citizen retains the right to bring a grievance before the king for final judgment. The Law of Exchange survives as tradition — honored more often than enforced, but never forgotten.

As the capital of the southern isles, Airovale is a warm braid of artisans, families, and aeronauts. Founded by refugees of ancient volcanic ruin, its craft and compassion endure: engines hum beside ivy walls, and fertile foothills beyond the gates feed the community that calls this place home.
