The Long Night is the crossroads of the Airovale story, where decisions and fate intersect. The crew of the Nereid narrowly escape the island in a zeppelin laden with gold and a fraction of the coal they needed to return home. By choosing treasure over the necessary fuel to make the journey, they became a priceless tomb, floating above the earth with no map to lead the way.
Meanwhile Aden remained on Canyon Myst, his new found love for Kira was both blessing and curse, as the fatal duel with her betrothed made him a killer, sentenced for the death of Barra. Kira flies to her father in Sibhruion, the fae palace, seeking help, discovering a truth about him and the island she had never anticipated. The Long Night is the hard truth, the consequence and cost that we must endure to reach the hope that awaits on the other side.
The scene of the long night reveals Aden waiting in the dark of a prison cell while Kira and Thalos seek answers only wisdom and magic can provide. Above the clouds, Steffan's eyes gleam with a hull packed with gold and no clear heading to return home. The villages stir with the news of the duel, dividing loyalties and opinions. The long night is the journey of despair, slowly moving on an unknown path through the doubts and fears that haunt us all.
"The Long Night" by Jef Gray — a cinematic fantasy composition inspired by the tale of Aden an aeronaut hunter, and Kira, a fae princess, who have fallen in love and now face the consequences of choices made. Sentenced to death, Aden awaits execution in the morning while Kira seeks help from her fae family to free him. If choices are the cards played, then who can win?
