‘Time is the Fire’ arrives at the end of Mystic Portal, the tenth and final chapter of Airovale. Aden and Kira stand at the threshold of the only passage that will carry them beyond Canyon Myst — a portal that runs one way, that opens once, and that knows the weight of everything they have spent to reach it.
The Law of Exchange has been counting from the very first verse of the saga. Every gift demanded its price. Time is the fire that we burn. The song’s anthem is what remains when the bargain has been made — not regret, not triumph, but the clear-eyed reckoning of two people who chose to spend their hours on each other rather than on safer ground.
